Bored

I was so bored today I had to call my Mom and tell her that I had nothing to do. As usual, she had a few suggestions. Mothers always do. Must be something they get at the maternity clinic when the father is in the parking lot, trying to find his car.

“Why don’t you go for a walk?”
“Don’t wanna.”
“It’s good for ya.”
“Don’t wanna.”
“Well…,” Mom said, and I could hear the frustration in the voice. “Then read a book.”
“Already did that.”
“You already read a book today? It’s ten in the morning.”
“No, but I’ve already read a book. I know what it’s like and I just don’t wanna. I’m bored and I want to do something fun.”
“Write a story.”
“That’s work.”
“Watch television.”
“Nothing’s on.”
“Watch a movie.”
“Seen them all.”
“Yeah, right, you’ve seen all the movies in the world. Call Dad.”
“Already did, he told me to call you.”
“Draw a picture, or paint.”
“What about?”
“Something you like. Cowboys?
“Mom, I’m not eight anymore.”
“Fine. But you always liked cowboys.”
“There’s no time to paint now. I’ll just go eat pizza.”
“And then go for a walk, right?”
“Don’t wanna.”
